We are the student-led publication for Warwick Law Society, providing a space for students and academics at Warwick to express their thoughts about the law and beyond.
Our publication covers topics from a broad spectrum of law through biweekly articles and academic essays, all curated from the best talent that Warwick’s legal scholarship has to offer.
We also invite legal specialists and future leaders to talk about the newest topics around the law and social issues. Find our latest episodes here.
Editor’s Message!
Obiter Dicta is Warwick Law Society’s student-led independent publication. Our traditional format consists of legal articles published on our website on a biweekly basis, along with a print edition of the magazine that we produce each term. Our articles employ legal analysis to engage with current socio-political, economic and cultural affairs, while also reflecting on the intersection between law and other disciplines, such as philosophy, language, politics, and more.
This year however, we are so excited to be growing our newest ventures: the Obiter Dicta Podcast and Book Club. The podcast is a great way for you to keep on top of both niche and mainstream legal news, while the Book Club provides a space for students to meet and socialise in a non-academic space, focused on reading as a means of prioritising wellbeing.
Furthermore, we will be holding Writer’s Workshops, and introducing a legal writing series to provide both new and returning writers with the tools to confidently contribute to the magazine.
As this year’s Obiter Dicta Editors, we are keen to provide a platform for students and alumni to expand their skill set while contributing to a longstanding and reputed magazine!

What Our Contributors Say
“It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.”
